Groups
Below is a brief description of the activities of the various South Australian
Local groups of the Australian Plants Society. To contact any of the Country

Adelaide
- The activities of the Adelaide region of the Australian Plants Society are detailed in
our About the Society page.
Brinkworth
Group
- All meetings at the Brinkworth Hall Supper Room unless stated at
6.30pm
- Wednesday 24th March - "Purnululu - A great WA Kimberley experience of
the Bungle Bungles - Malcolm and Heather Hancock and Dennis and Karen
Wundke.
- Monday 26th April - Field Trip - The Bridle Track.
Meet at Wirrabara on the western side of the main street - northern end of
the town where there is a steam train and park at 10.30 am.
Bring picnic lunch, drinks, chairs, etc.
- Wednesday 26th May - Victor Gostin "The Rocks and soil that
feed our plants: The Geology of the Flinders". Tea meeting 6.30 pm.
Bring items for a hamper please.
- Wednesday 23rd June - 8.00pm "The Great Escape to Goog's Track"
- A presentation by APS members from the Camp out held in July 2009.
- 3rd - 10th July - APS Camp Out 2010 - Innaminka or Lake Mungo,
destination to be decided.
- Sunday 15th August - Field trip to Gilbert & Sheryl Welke's
property 30 km north of Quorn.
- Sunday 26th September - Field trip to Spring Gully with the
Friends of Spring Gully. Meet at the Clare Caravan Park at 1.00pm for
lunch. Bring lunch, drinks, chairs, good walking shoes etc.
- Friday 22nd October - Tea meeting at 6.30pm followed by Guest
speaker Michael Anlezark, "The Big Picture - the role of the Australian
Arid Lands Botanic Garden in the future of horticulture and conservation."
- Saturday 6th November - End of year wind-up - A mystery tour to White
Cliffs and beyond.
Eastern
Eyre Peninsula Group
- Excursions.
- Conservation of the Port Neill Coastal Swamp. More than 4000 trees have been planted.

Fleurieu
Group
- Meetings held at the Encounter Centre, on the Ring Road opposite the
Encounter Bay Oval at 7.30pm. All APS members welcome.
- 9th March: Rescheduled 2009 AGM and Show and Tell
- 10th April: Autumn Plant Sale at Lutheran Hall, Adelaide
Road, Victor Harbor 9 am
- 8th June: General meeting
- 7th August: Picnic - Meet at 11am at Nangawooka for tour
of this and other gardens, BYO picnic.
- 11th Sept: Spring Plant Sale at Lutheran Hall,
Adelaide Road, Victor Harbor, 9am
- 9th Nov: 2010 AGM and Show and
Tell
- 4th Dec: Christmas BBQ - from 5.30 pm at
Nangawooka
Karoonda
Group
- Meetings first Thursday of the month in Council Chambers, Main St,
Karoonda, 7.30pm
- February 4th AGM & Programme Meeting (bush supper)
- Planting in the Main St with the assistance of the District Council.
- Excursions.
Kimba
and Districts Group
- Monthly field trips
- Maintenance of planted areas in the town of Kimba.
Northern Yorke Peninsula Group
- Monthly meetings, 2nd Thursday of the
month at the Farm Shed, Moonta Road, Kadina
- Excursions and Field Trips
- Maintenance of the native garden at The
Farm Shed, Kadina
- Weed control (bridal creeper) of Agery
Reserve
- Maintenance of local Bush Care sites

- Excursions
- Landscaping and planting of grounds at Matta house. Replanting Daniel's quarry.
Revegetation of Harry's Point and various Bushcare Sites on the Yorke Peninsula.
Parrakie Area Group
Port Augusta and District Group
- Meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm at the Garden
Club Hall, Elizabeth Tce, Port Augusta
Southern
Eyre
- 14th March: Annual General meeting at Puckridge Park at
10.30am Meet at ArtEyre carpark 10am. Stroll around park, then
lunch. BYO lunch, hat
- 9th May: Arno Bay Mangrove Board
Walk - BYO lunch, chair, etc.
- 11th July: Evelyn Griffiths demonstration of creating
bonsai plants. BYO plate of food to share for lunch.
- 8th August: Parnkalla Walking Trail.
BYO lunch, chair, etc.
- 12th Sept: Wanilla Conservation Reserve then
lunch at Sonia Tidemann's. BYO chair, hat, salad to share.
- 10th Oct:: Point Avaid. BYO lunch, chair, etc.
- 14th Nov: Lions picnic spot North shore. BYO plate
of food to share, chair, hat..
- Lists of local species and their provenance being compiled electronically.
- Publication of Wildflowers of the Lower Eyre Peninsula.
- Tree planting in Brinkworth Park and other conservation initiatives.
