Eucalyptus leucoxylon ssp. megalocarpa showing some of it's different flower colours.

Have you seen this Eucalypt flowering around Adelaide and other areas of SA in Autumn and Winter ?

It is Eucalyptus leucoxylon ssp. megalocarpa, common name Large-fruited SA Blue Gum.  An excellent small tree 6-10 metres tall, normally with a dense crown.  The flower colour can vary from white to pale pink through to the deep pink seen in this photo.  It's natural occurrence in SA is along the coast in the lower South East.  It flowers usually from mid autumn through to mid winter, and the lorikeets and rosellas love it.  It is often seen as a street tree in Adelaide.
